What Is Soft Washing?
Soft washing is a safe, effective cleaning method that uses low water pressure and specialized solutions to clean your home's exterior without causing damage. Here's everything you need to know.
Soft Washing, Explained
Soft washing is an exterior cleaning technique that relies on chemical cleaning power rather than water pressure. While pressure washing blasts surfaces with water at 2,000–4,000 PSI, soft washing uses no more than 100–500 PSI—roughly the same force as a garden hose.
The cleaning is done by a specially formulated, biodegradable solution that's applied to the surface. This solution breaks down algae, mold, mildew, bacteria, and other organic contaminants at the cellular level. Once the solution has done its work, the surface is gently rinsed clean.
How the Soft Wash Process Works
Inspection
We assess your surfaces, identify problem areas, and determine the right cleaning solution for your specific materials.
Plant Protection
We wet and cover landscaping, flowers, and sensitive areas to protect them from cleaning solutions.
Solution Application
A biodegradable cleaning solution is applied at low pressure. The chemicals break down algae, mold, and mildew at the cellular level.
Gentle Rinse
After the solution has worked, we rinse everything with low-pressure water—leaving surfaces clean without any risk of damage.
Surfaces Safe for Soft Washing
Soft washing is the recommended method for any surface that could be damaged by high pressure, including:
Benefits of Soft Washing
No Surface Damage
Low pressure means zero risk of cracking, chipping, or stripping materials.
Eco-Friendly
Biodegradable solutions that are safe for your landscaping and the environment.
Longer-Lasting Results
Kills organisms at the root so they take much longer to return compared to pressure washing alone.
Warranty Safe
The only cleaning method recommended by major siding and shingle manufacturers.
Why Soft Washing Is Especially Important in Delaware
Delaware's coastal and Mid-Atlantic climate creates the perfect storm for organic growth on exterior surfaces. High humidity, salt air, warm summers, and mild winters mean algae, mold, and mildew grow faster and more aggressively here than in drier climates.
Soft washing is the only method that actually kills these organisms rather than just displacing them. For homeowners in Sussex and Kent Counties—from beach communities like Rehoboth and Lewes to inland towns like Dover and Georgetown—soft washing provides longer-lasting results and protects your home's surfaces from the unique challenges of our climate.
